The split personalities of Terrell Owens and their attempts to annoy McNabb
Its “Cowboys Week” and we are getting closer and closer to kick-off on Monday Night. With the game getting closer, that means only one thing, Dallas Cowboys WR Terrell Owens running his mouth, again. Although us Die Hard Philly Fans have come to expect “drivel” from Owens all the time, he never stops getting our attention when he opens his mouth. Like a child begging for Mommy’s attention by acting out constantly, Owens again yesterday made it clear that he craves more attention and while doing that, trying to get under Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb’s skin as well.
Yesterday, from a Dallas newspaper blog, Owens was quoted as saying “Well, I was really thinking that was the case in Philly before I think the fans and just the excitement of me coming there and being there, it became too overwhelming for Donovan,” T.O. replied. “Other than that, I think at one point in time I will say that we had a good relationship. I think I got too big for Philly, too big for him. But here, Tony and I have a great relationship.”
We all know something is wrong with “T.O”. From the moment that helicopter was spotted flying over his Moorestown, NJ home while he did sit-ups in his front driveway, I thought to myself that this guy has to be at least bi-polar. In all seriousness, he may be in a way: There’s the “T.O.” on the field and the “T.O.” off the field. The “T.O.” on the field is an amazing physical specimen who is one of the league’s top receivers who can do bring so much to an offense. However, there comes a price with having that Owens and that is having the off the field “T.O.”. A constant distraction is the least of what he can be. He caused turmoil to the San Francisco 49ers. He did the same here in 2005. He’s a time bomb ticking, waiting to explode. It is only a matter of time before he does the same thing in Dallas. Another choke of a performance in the playoffs and it is a sure thing that you will see Owens in front of the cameras ripping apart the Cowboys.
So it will be interesting to see how McNabb handles things. In my opinion, McNabb is above this and will take it in stride. McNabb is a mature adult, poised for this kind of disruption. McNabb has kids of his own. He knows how to handle bratty children. As do I. One way is to ignore them. Stop feeding the little child attention and the child shuts up. Pay attention to the cries of the child and that child only cries louder and demands even more attention. Pay attention to Owens’ comments and he will be louder. Ignore him and he will just embarrass himself further, crying out to the media to whoever will pay attention to him. McNabb knows better. McNabb won’t let the annoying child get to him. McNabb will put him in the corner facing the wall by taking the higher road and just prepare for Monday Night and then bring us Die Hard Eagles Fans a victory.
With that said, “E-A-G-L-E-S!! EAGLES!!”
